According to Sharip Sharipov, the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan, the Chirkatinsky fruit canning factory in Gumbetovsky municipal district will resume operations this year in time for the harvest season.

The revival of the factory has been made possible thanks to the efforts of investor Budun Budunov, who previously carried out a major technological upgrade of the Kikuni cannery, bringing it to a completely new level. It is planned to install fruit puree production lines in the currently idle factory by the beginning of the harvest season.

“We expect to process around 500 tons of raw material in the first phase.  Due to the availability of good production facilities, it is also planned to organize the production of vinegar, which will require the construction of special fermentation halls.  The next stage will see the start of the production of various compotes. An important advantage is the presence of an apricot orchard of about 10 hectares, which will also be revived” – Sharipov says.

According to Sharipov, in 2024 Dagestan had 9 canneries processing approx. 2.7 thousand tons of fruit and vegetable products.
