Dagestan traditional cuisine and crafts presented at International Cuisine Festival in Moscow

Makhachkala, August 30, 2016. Dagestan traditional cuisine and folk art crafts have been presented at the III International Cuisine Festival held August 28 in Zakharovo village in Moscow, the spokesperson in the Permanent Representative Office of the Republic of Dagestan at the President of Russia reports.

The festival was initiated by the administration of Odintsovo district and the museum-reserve named after A. S. Pushkin. The Honoured Art Worker of the Russian Federation Gediminas Tarand became the mastermind of the project, carried out with a great success for three year. The festival aims to join a numerous peoples and different ethnocultures.

The thematic pavilions demonstrated cuisines, crafts, costumes and decorations of the peoples of Russia and the world. The Festival visitors could participate in exciting workshops and games for children and adults that turned a usual sunny Sunday afternoon in a big friendly holiday. Motley kaleidoscope of cultures brought together guests fr om all over Moscow and the Moscow region. This year, more than 5 thousand visitors have attended the festival.

At the same time, the festival guests and visitors watch staged performances. The creative teams from Brazil, India, Scotland, Serbia, Spain and other countries, presented bright and fun entertainment programmes. Dagestan has traditionally presented a dance “Lezginka”.

The best crafts: ceramics and claywares, silver jewelery, woodenwares were presented in Dagestan pavilion. There were also national dishes. The festival guests tasted and purchased something on the memory and took pictures. A master class of the traditional dance “lezginka” gathered the biggest amount of visitors.

This year the organizers have focused on the children's creativity. There were several platforms wh ere children could create their own hands dolls, paint the gingerbread, toys and spoons. A children's bookshop also was opened.

Among the honored guests, attended the festival, there were the Hero of Russia, the five-fold Olympic champion Larisa Lazutina, the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the Greco-Roman wrestler Sergey Semenov and the social activist Oksana Pushkina.

"A Harvest Day, or Day of the table, can be described in various ways. The main thing is that today we are gathering once again to appreciate the good traditions of hospitable. This warm family holiday unites and delights us, playing an important role in the intercultural dialogue of our people ", - Lazutina noted.
