Makhachkala Airport to resume charter flights to Turkey

Makhachkala, August 16, 2016. Makhachkala Airport is ready to resume charter flights to Turkey, the press service of Makhachkala Airport reports. The relevant applications had already been directed to the top managers of the airport.

Nowadays, the residents of Dagestan can use weekly flight from Makhachkala to Istanbul on Mondays and Thursdays, served by the Turkish Airlines AtlasGlobal.

"Our planes arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, which is a kind of a hub and the visitors can also get to Europe, and so on. Besides, the flights via Turkey are finally cheaper than in via Moscow airports"- the Director General of Makhachkala Airport Arsen Pirmagomedov noted.

As previously reported, the Russian President Vladimir Putin, having negotiated with his Turkish colleague Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stated that the resumption of charter air links with Turkey would be started as soon as possible.

Recall, Dagestan airport intends to increase passenger traffic up to 1 million people  year to 2019. Today, the capacity of the airport for domestic flights makes 200 passengers per hour, for international ones - 60 passengers.

Each day, ten aircrafts fly to Moscow from Makhachkala, four times a week the planes go St. Petersburg. From Makhachkala, the residents can also fly to Surgut, Sochi, Samara, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates.
