MAKHACHKALA, May 28 – RIA Dagestan. Sheep breeders from Dagestan brought a diverse range of breeds to an exhibition in Elista, spanning the traditional Dagestan mountain type to the fine-fleeced Artlukh merino.
The event featured Andian, Lezgian, Tushin and Edilbaev sheep as well. Specialists were especially drawn to Lakon ewes with their lambs and to hybrid rams obtained by crossing Lakon with Dagestan mountain sheep.
The main attraction was a three-year-old pedigree ram of Dagestan mountain breed, weighing 120 kilograms and supplied by a farm in the Gunibsky District. The exhibition is open through May 29 and the expert panel is tasked with selecting the best specimens according to conformation and productivity criteria.
