Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan and Sherif Kerimkhanov, Head of the republican Viticulture Committee, reviewed the 2025 results of the regional viticulture sector.
Previously dependent on imported grapevine planting material—primarily from European countries until 2022—Dagestan has since launched its own nursery program. This initiative led to the creation of LLC “Planta” a specialized propagation complex in Suleiman-Stalsky municipal district that produces high-quality grafted saplings. As a result, the republic now fully satisfies its domestic demand and has become a key supplier of planting material to other Russian regions.
In 2025, Dagestan produced over 8 million grapevine saplings, including 2,4 mln. grafted ones. Of these, 5.87 million were officially certified, enabling significant external shipments—840,000 saplings to Crimea and 500,000 to Krasnodar Krai.
The republic is now in active talks to export saplings to Uzbekistan and other countries in the “near abroad” as well as to newly integrated territories such as Zaporizhzhia Oblast. This transformation underscores Dagestan’s growing role as a national leader in viticultural propagation and its success in achieving self-reliance in critical agricultural inputs.
