MAKHACHKALA, April 14 – RIA Dagestan. According to available information, pilot trading sessions are scheduled to begin on Saint Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange on April 16. More than 15 Russian producers and processors have confirmed their participation in these initial sessions.
Among them, four agricultural enterprises from Dagestan will present their goods. Nationwide, Russia produces upwards of 40,000 tons of wool each year, of which Dagestan contributes roughly 14,000 tons. The republic's wool products are shipped to other regions within the Russian Federation, as well as to Belarus, China and Kazakhstan.
The idea of launching exchange-based wool trading was originally proposed by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
