Investor revives rural lands by laying 150 hectares of new vineyards in Dagestan

An investor has already planted 150 hectars of vineyards, transforming former abandoned lands into productive agricultural land on a plot measuring 572 hectars in the village of Mitagi-Kazmalyar. The project initiator is Kaspiyskaya Loza LLC, which aims to plant 420 hectars with technical grape varieties of a continuous type. The total investment in the project amounts to approximately RUB 300 million.

Through obtaining the status of a large-scale investment project, the company was granted an opportunity to obtain a land plot for lease without the need for bidding as government support. The project was launched in March 2024, and to date, 150 hectars have been planted.

A vast expanse of vineyards has been cultivated, encompassing 97 hectars planted in 2024 and an additional 53 hectars during the current season. Various grape varieties such as Merlot, Pervenets Magaracha, Saperavi, Sauvignon Blanc, Rhenish Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay thrive on these plots. The seedlings used for planting were procured from the local Dagestan nurseries operated by LLC "Planta". The harvested grapes are promptly dispatched for processing within the confines of the Republic of Dagestan.

The project is currently in the final stages of constructing an irrigation system based on drip irrigation technology. Additionally, the plan calls for the installation of support structures known as trellises throughout the entirety of the vineyard area. In the foreseeable future, the visionary investor envisions transforming this space into a recreational destination.
