MAKHACHKALA, May 11 – RIA "Dagestan." A major repair project on the "Gapshima–Kuli via Balkhar" road in Akusha District is ongoing as part of the "Infrastructure for Life" national project. Since January 2026, work has focused on the section from kilometer 0 to kilometer 3, which leads to Balkhar, a village renowned for its pottery craftsmen.
The contractor carries out earthwork and reconstruction of a stone-arch bridge. The comprehensive repair plan includes roadway restoration and reinforcement, earthmoving in rocky and standard soils, laying two types of road surfacing, shoulder strengthening, repairs to two stone-arch bridges, drainage pipe installation and construction of intersections and junctions.
The road will be equipped with concrete barriers, signal posts, and traffic signs, followed by road marking. The improved road aims to boost development of this tourist destination, provide safe access to the village, increase visitor numbers, support local artisans and stimulate economic growth in the locality.
