MAKHACHKALA, March 11 – RIA "Dagestan". Makhachkala International Airport has been equipped with a modern Doppler radio beacon to significantly enhance flight safety in the region's challenging terrain. The DVOR 2000/DME/N 2700 system, installed by Azimut—a company within the Rostec State Corporation—generates and transmits precise radio navigation signals for aircraft both en route and during approach procedures.
The equipment is especially valuable for airfields in mountainous areas, providing reliable navigation where satellite signals may be unstable and assisting pilots in establishing optimal descent trajectories. Similar systems are already operational at airports in Vladikavkaz, Gelendzhik, Yerevan and other cities. The installation forms part of a comprehensive modernization program underway at Dagestan's capital airport.
