Nearly 16,000 Tons of Fish Caught in Dagestan Since Start of Year

MAKHACHKALA, August 19 – RIA Dagestan. As of 10 August, total fish catch in Dagestan stood at 15,611 tons, according to data from the North Caucasian Territorial Department of the Federal Fishery Agency.

Sprat remains the mainstay of the fishery, with more than 14,000 tons landed. Common carp follows in second place with over 255 tons, and silver bream ranks third with more than 210 tons. The top five also includes mullet at 198 tons and crucian carp at 193 tons. The three leading species together account for the vast majority of the total catch.

Fishermen throughout the republic remain active, keeping processing plants steadily supplied with raw materials.
