MAKHACHKALA, September 11 – RIA "Dagestan". The modernization of Makhachkala Airport will soon enter a new phase with the reconstruction of the apron to accommodate 16 aircraft, part of a continuous upgrade program lasting until 2027.
Authorities have ensured that all construction work, including the parallel modernization of accompanying infrastructure, will proceed without interrupting the airport's active flight operations.
Furthermore, the construction of a new 3,200-meter runway has reached 98 % completion, with its commissioning planned for the second ten days of September 2026 to allow the arrival of large airliners and stimulate regional air travel.
The apron reconstruction and all associated infrastructure improvements will unlock new opportunities for the development of air services across the region.
