MAKHACHKALA, July 16 – RIA "Dagestan". In preparation for the 2026–2027 autumn-winter season, power engineers in Dagestan prioritize grid resilience with RUB 1.74 billion invested in maintenance and flood-resistant infrastructure.
After addressing spring flood consequences (March 28 – April 6, 2026), 97% of repairs were completed by mid-year. The modernization program has reconstructed seventeen 35–110 kV substations, three transmission lines and procured fifteen modern transformer units.
To prevent future flood damage, the "Primorskaya" and "Makhachkala" 110 kV substations will be rebuilt with elevated equipment designs, while immediate attention focuses on replacing cables at the 110 kV "Novaya" substation following last year's reliability issues.
