Preparation Underway for Construction of Wastewater Treatment Plants in Makhachkala and Kaspiysk

MAKHACHKALA, June 8 – RIA Dagestan. Magomed Ramazanov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Dagestan, inspected municipal infrastructure facilities of Makhachkala agglomeration to review readiness for the construction of new wastewater treatment plants and related structures.

The key component of the modernization—and one of the republic's most ambitious infrastructure undertakings—is a 150,000-cubic-meter-per-day treatment plant intended to establish a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system for Makhachkala-Kaspiysk agglomeration.

Currently, intensive earthworks are in progress: daily deliveries of inert materials exceed 3,500 cubic meters and the site is being leveled. The project employs approximately 75 workers and more than 100 units of heavy machinery. The facility will treat wastewater incoming from Makhachkala and Kaspiysk, substantially raising existing treatment capacity, with the resulting purified water discharged into the sea.

The Prime Minister also examined work at Kaspiysk wastewater pumping station and at GKNS-6 in Makhachkala, where upgrades to existing pumping infrastructure are ongoing. He received updates on the construction of a force main linking GKNS-6 to the future plant and pressure collectors from Kaspiysk that tie together existing and planned pumping stations and treatment works.

Special attention was directed at the deep-water outfall for treated wastewater into the Caspian Sea, which constitutes the concluding and most critical part of the new drainage system. All projects are being carried out concurrently as a single integrated program to achieve synchronized launch.
