MAKHACHKALA, August 24 – RIA Dagestan. The volume of farmed commercial trout in Dagestan reached 1,494.8 tons in the first half of 2026. Compared to the same period in 2025, this figure grew by 50% thanks to the implementation of new large-scale investment projects in trout farming, the regional fisheries committee reports.
Irganai Trout LLC remains the industry leader. It is the republic's largest cage aquaculture investment project, with a designed capacity of up to 3,000 tons of fish per year. In the first half of 2026, 1,402.2 tons of rainbow trout were raised in the waters of the Irganai Reservoir, of which 315.2 tons were sold.
A total of 20 trout farms are currently operating in the republic.
