MAKHACHKALA, August 20 – RIA Dagestan. An episode of the "Good Morning" TV-show on Channel One spotlighted Kaitag embroidery, a traditional Dagestani handicraft with deep cultural roots.
The broadcast highlighted the ongoing revival of this folk art and the craftswomen who meticulously preserve the ancient technique and transmit it to younger generations.
At present, hundreds of women throughout Dagestan practice Kaitag embroidery. All pieces are produced by hand using silk threads and 16 distinct types of stitches. The creation of a single work can require up to one year.
