MAKHACHKALA, July 28 – RIA "Dagestan". P. S. Gamzatova Dagestan Museum of Fine Arts has opened "The Gazimagomedov Dynasty" an exhibition honoring the 80th anniversary of Magomedali Gazimagomedov and the 75th anniversary of Gamzat Gazimagomedov with over 90 works of Untsukul ornamental metal inlay.
The display features decorative vases, panels, walking sticks, household items and furniture that showcase the brothers' unique synthesis of ancient symbols and innovative techniques as eighth-generation continuators of their dynasty.
Magomedali (1946–2023), a G. Tsadasa Prize laureate and former chief artist of the Untsukul Art Factory, pioneered the integration of medieval Kubachi-Dargin stone relief imagery into traditional compositions. His brother Gamzat (b. 1951), an Honored Artist of Russia and Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, combines Kufic script with geometric patterns, reflecting deep scholarly engagement with spiritual culture in his award-winning decorative art.
The exhibition, which traces decades of creative evolution and the broader development of Untsukul craft, was inaugurated by museum officials, Union of Artists Chairman Kurbanali Magomedov and other cultural figures, and will remain open until August 22 with access via the Pushkin Card.
