Sketches of Holy Assumption Cathedral Murals Presented at Dagestan Museum of Fine Arts

MAKHACHKALA, March 25 – RIA Dagestan. An exhibition project titled "Road to the Temple" by artist Abdulzagir Musaev has opened at Dagestan Museum of Fine Arts named after P. Gamzatova. The event is dedicated to three commemorative dates: the artist's 75th birthday, the 120th anniversary of the Holy Assumption Cathedral in Makhachkala and the 20th anniversary of its mural painting.

The exhibition features mural sketches, photographic materials and documents related to the restoration of Dagestan's main Orthodox church. The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture Zarema Butaeva, Acting Minister for National Policy and Religious Affairs Rafik Khanzarov, Archbishop Varlaam of Makhachkala and Derbent, Assistant to the Head of Dagestan Lyudmila Avshalumova, artists and students.

Exhibition author Abdulzagir Musaev noted that he employed the Russian canonical style in academic execution when creating the cathedral's murals. The "Road to the Temple" exhibition is scheduled to run until May 17.
