MAKHACHKALA, September 10 – RIA Dagestan. Acting Head of Dagestan Fedor Shchukin and Federal Road Agency Director Roman Novikov held a strategic meeting to coordinate funding and execution for major highway projects, prioritizing the construction of three bypass routes around Makhachkala, Khasavyurt and Derbent.
Both officials ceremonially launched construction on Makhachkala bypass, a critical artery intended to divert transit vehicles away from the capital, reduce inner-city congestion and resolve persistent traffic bottlenecks near Tyube.
Additionally, the parties discussed a fully designed and state-approved two-lane access road for a proposed suburban "Dry Port" which will link to the northern bypass to streamline freight logistics, relieve local traffic and stimulate economic growth.
Summing up the session, Shchukin thanked Novikov for his robust support and noted that investing in high-quality, safe transportation networks is essential for improving public comfort and driving regional tourism and economic development.
