MAKHACHKALA, March 13 – RIA Dagestan. Head of the Republic of Dagestan Sergey Melikov chaired a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Prevention and Response, where officials discussed preparations for the upcoming flood and fire-hazard seasons, children's health campaign organization and water safety measures during the summer period.
Representatives of relevant agencies and municipal authorities attended the session. Melikov announced that Dagestan has been recognized at the federal level as one of four Russian regions demonstrating effective operation of the Unified Duty Dispatch Service (UDDS), emphasizing that high-quality duty service performance enables timely risk identification and helps prevent emergency situations from escalating.
While acknowledging that precise forecasting of emergencies remains impossible, he stressed that prompt reporting of preliminary warning signs significantly reduces potential threats. Following the discussions, the commission approved an action plan for emergency prevention and response activities for 2026.
