MAKHACHKALA, August 18 – RIA Dagestan. First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kiriyenko has arrived in Dagestan on a working visit, commencing his itinerary with an act of remembrance.
At the monument to Magomedali Magomedov on Rasul Gamzatov Avenue in Makhachkala, he was joined by Acting Head of the Republic of Dagestan Fedor Shchukin in laying flowers at the memorial.
Magomedali Magomedov stands among the defining figures of Dagestan's modern era. He led the republic for more than a quarter of a century — years marked by profound trials — and it was under his stewardship that the Constitution of Dagestan was adopted. In 1999, when the territorial integrity of the nation faced grave danger, he demonstrated exceptional fortitude.
As participants at the ceremony observed, "Honouring the memory of our great fellow countryman is not only a tribute to the past, but also an example for those who continue his work today".
