MAKHACHKALA, June 19 – RIA "Dagestan". Fyodor Shchukin, Acting Head of Dagestan and Russian Deputy Economic Development Minister Sergey Nazarov convened a joint meeting to examine in detail the republic's main socio-economic development priorities.
The discussion centered on large-scale infrastructure and tourism projects, including the Caspian Coastal Cluster, the regional program for sustainable energy and housing and utilities infrastructure, measures under the "Development of the North Caucasian Federal District" state program (including Derbent's comprehensive development plan till 2027), the provision of social and engineering infrastructure for Kaspiysk residents and military families and the modernization of Makhachkala Uytash Airport along with the construction of a connecting railway line.
Shchukin underlined the critical importance of the meeting for coordinating joint efforts and expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Economic Development for its consistent backing, while noting Dagestan's considerable potential for economic growth and improved living standards.
For his part, Sergey Nazarov stressed the importance of assessing project progress and addressing problems as they arise, singling out the Caspian Cluster as the most advanced among comparable coastal resort initiatives nationwide. Nazarov highlighted that the project was under the direct supervision of the country's top leadership, with a primary objective of creating more than 7,000 hotel rooms by 2030.
Meanwhile, the Kavkaz.RF corporation has been tasked with developing all the necessary infrastructure.
