Parliamentarian Highlights Underused Potential of Dagestan's Natural Resources for Youth Recreation

MAKHACHKALA, February 26 – RIA "Dagestan". At the 52nd session of the People's Assembly of Dagestan, Deputy Marat Aliyarov proposed a comprehensive reform of the republican children's recreation system.

Aliyarov observed that despite Dagestan's natural resources—including the Caspian Sea coastline and mountainous landscapes—the region's capacity for organized children's recreation and health improvement remains underused, with only a limited share of schoolchildren participating in target programs. As to the politician, financial constraints prevent many families, particularly large and low-income households, from affording camp placements for their children.

The proposal includes modernizing existing recreational facilities, developing specialized programs in sports, patriotic education and science, strengthening safety protocols and reviving the training system for camp counselors. Aliyarov described children's recreation as an investment in the republic's future and noted that the matter is under the special attention of the regional governor.
