Sergei Melikov Prioritizes Compensation for Residents Affected by Heavy Rainfall in Dagestan

MAKHACHKALA, April 3 – RIA Dagestan. At a meeting addressing current operational challenges, Deputy Prime Minister ща Dagestan Ramazan Dzhafarov provided regional governor Sergei Melikov with an update on the Operational Headquarters' actions aimed at alleviating the consequences of the emergency, as well as the government's comprehensive response efforts.

The emergency management system of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry operates at full capacity in Dagestan. All levels of the response framework—from federal decisions made in Moscow to the direct actions of rescue and firefighting teams on site— are focused on mitigating the aftermath of the intense rainfall..

Efforts are focused on four primary areas: the restoration of energy, water, sewage and gas systems to maintain normal living conditions for those affected; the inspection and phased repair of transportation infrastructure, communication networks and key industrial facilities within the region; compensation for losses in the agricultural sector; as well as the provision of payments to affected citizens alongside the distribution of aid from public organizations.

Melikov emphasized that providing compensation to affected residents constitutes the foremost priority at this juncture. He asserted that the primary goal for all governmental bodies was to facilitate the rebuilding of housing and infrastructure, as well as to guarantee compensation for property damaged or lost.
