Sergei Melikov Reports to Vladimir Putin on Six Priority Infrastructure Projects in Dagestan

MAKHACHKALA, March 10 – RIA "Dagestan". Head of the Republic of Dagestan Sergei Melikov reported to President Vladimir Putin on the progress of six priority infrastructure projects supported by the federal center. These include the construction of the "Chirkey – Makhachkala – Kaspiysk" water pipeline with a planned extension to Izberbash; treatment facilities and sewer systems in Makhachkala; waste sorting plants, in which Dagestan currently leads Russia in construction pace; road bypasses for Derbent, Khasavyurt and Makhachkala; the Caspian Coastal Cluster development; and Derbent development program.

Regarding the water pipeline project, Melikov acknowledged challenges that led to deadline postponements, citing technical decisions and pricing adjustments. The regional governor acknowledged that bringing the new water pipeline system to full capacity requires additional modernization of internal city water supply networks. Funding sources for this complementary work—whether through credit mechanisms or increased infrastructure allocations—are currently under discussion.

Despite these challenges, Melikov expressed confidence that the republic makes steady progress toward completing the water pipeline construction.
