MAKHACHKALA, May 22 – RIA Dagestan. Makhachkala hosted an awards ceremony for the All-Russian journalism competition "For Truth in the Profession" held in memory of esteemed Dagestani journalist Alik Abdulgamidov. Before the awards, attendees screened a documentary about Abdulgamidov's life and career.
The competition, organized by Dagestan Regional Branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia with support from philanthropist Mamed Abasov, attracted 27 entries. Winners received certificates and cash prizes.
Arsen Yusupov, Acting Head of Dagestan Information and Press Agency, stressed the importance of preserving Abdulgamidov's legacy as a principled journalist and patriot. Speakers including Burlilyat Tokbolatova, Khanzhan Kurbanov and Murad Akhmedov highlighted Abdulgamidov's talent, professionalism and commitment to addressing vital social issues.
The competition honors journalists who uphold high professional standards and carry forward Abdulgamidov's legacy of truthful, impactful reporting. Organizers hope the event will inspire future generations of media professionals across Dagestan and beyond.
