MAKHACHKALA, February 25 – RIA "Dagestan". The Ministry for National Policy and Religious Affairs of Dagestan has launched a series of educational seminars for students enrolled in the republican religious institutions. Events have already been conducted at three locations: the Imam Shafi'i Dagestan Islamic University in Makhachkala, the Sheikh Abula-Afandi Islamic University in Derbent and the Muhammad Yaragsky Madrasah in Dagestanskiye Ogni.
The seminars were held in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and remote participation. During interactive sessions, ministry representatives and instructors engaged students in discussions on contemporary challenges in patriotic education, behavioral norms, preservation of historical memory and the role of spiritual education in fostering respect for the traditions and history of Dagestan's multiethnic population and Russia as a whole. Strengthening interfaith dialogue was also emphasized.
Participants learned about opportunities for religious education within Russia, including the ongoing revival of the national theological school initiated by the President of the Russian Federation. Digital safety formed another key component of the seminars, with experts providing guidance on recognizing online manipulation, avoiding recruitment into subversive activities and critically assessing information sources.
Additional topics addressed included risks associated with illicit financial operations and protocols for anti-terrorist security at religious facilities. Students actively participated in the discussions, posing questions and receiving detailed responses. Organizers indicate that similar seminars will be conducted at other religious educational institutions across Dagestan.
