MAKHACHKALA, May 5 – RIA "Dagestan." A large-scale Victory Day festival will take place on May 9 at the "Zebra" Equestrian Sports Complex in Makhachkala, organized by the City Administration's Department of Sports and Tourism. The event, which offers free admission to all visitors, combines sports competitions, cultural performances and patriotic activities in a single program designed to honor the holiday while promoting community engagement and family values.
The equestrian competitions will become the centerpiece event, including six horse races with a total prize fund of RUB 600,000 and a spectacular display of dzhigitovka, the traditional Caucasian art of horsemanship. Strength sports enthusiasts can participate in mas-wrestling, tug-of-war (RUB 50,000 prize fund), stone and kettlebell throwing, as well as a penalty kick tournament and a speed challenge for assembling and disassembling an assault rifle. The patriotic segment will feature a bikers' parade, wartime poetry and songs and the "Banner of Victory" campaign, while families with children can enjoy a dedicated zone with a "Fort Boyard" quest, entertainers, face painting and tightrope performances.
Organizers emphasize that the festival aims to create an inclusive, festive atmosphere where residents of all ages can come together to commemorate Victory Day through sport, culture and shared remembrance.
