Leading Scientists Converge at DSU for Physical Electronics and Low-Temperature Plasma Forum

MAKHACHKALA, September 13 – RIA Dagestan. Leading scientists, professors, and young researchers from universities and research institutes throughout Russia have converged at Dagestan State University for the 14th All-Russian Conference on Physical Electronics.

Murtazali Rabadanov, Rector of DSU, pointed out that the organization of this major scholarly meeting has become a firmly established tradition for the university. Now in its 14th iteration, the conference is conducted in strategic partnership with the Joint Institute for High Temperatures and Dagestan Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences to encourage cooperation among experts in physical electronics and low-temperature plasma.

The rector highlighted the symbolic timing of the event, noting that Dagestan State University will celebrate its 95th anniversary on October 14 and mark seven decades as a classical university next year. He emphasized that such milestones offer a valuable chance to reflect on past achievements and chart future developmental paths, hoping the current forum will catalyze innovative scientific concepts.

Academician Oleg Petrov further noted that the gathering represented the culmination of decades of collaborative research, evolving directly from the gas discharge physics conferences hosted in Makhachkala during the 1980s. As to academician Akai Murtazaev, holding the conference at the start of the academic year establishes a rigorous pace for scientific research and underscores that in-person collaboration cannot be replicated by remote formats.

Plenary sessions featured presentations on electrohydrodynamic flows for cooling and aerodynamics, powerful amalgam UV lamps for water disinfection and Professor Nikolai Timofeev's findings on short-arc high-pressure xenon discharges used in high-efficiency lighting. Additionally, Nazir Ashurbekov, head of DSU Department of Physical Electronics, delivered a comprehensive report on the prospects of applying pulsed-periodic discharges with an extended hollow cathode in the field of nanoelectronics.

The broader event program encompassed review reports, poster presentations, and in-depth discussions covering gas electronics, plasma-beam discharges, plasma-surface interactions, solid-state electronics and electron-beam technologies.
