MAKHACHKALA, July 28 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan volleyball teams have won silver and bronze medals at the North Caucasian Federal District Cup held at Makhachkala’s "Trud" Stadium, where six regional teams competed for top honors. The first Dagestan team reached the final but fell to the Chechen Republic in a hard-fought five-set match (1:2), earning silver, while the second Dagestan squad claimed bronze by defeating North Ossetia–Alania 2:1 in the third-place playoff.
Dagestan players dominated the symbolic all-star team, with Israpil Gitinov named best libero, Magomed Khatipov best setter and Murad Yunusov selected as an outside hitter.
Chechen Republic athletes also received multiple individual awards: Megdi Khalaev (best opposite hitter), Ramzan Chimikov and Shamil Ramazanov (best middle blockers) and Khadzhi Bataev (best outside hitter).
