MAKHACHKALA, June 30 – RIA "Dagestan". Representing the renowned Dagestani martial arts school, undefeated middleweight Shamil "Cobra" Magomedov has officially secured his spot in the Fight Nights Grand Prix. The promotion has announced that the tournament's champion will walk away with a $1 million cash prize.
Heading into the competition, the 27-year-old athlete is in top form. Magomedov holds a perfect professional record, having won all 13 of his bouts via early finish, with referees stopping nine of them by knockout. This thrilling level of action makes "Cobra" one of the standout stars of the impending tournament.
Magomedov's path to a major contract went through Russian regional leagues, including appearances in the MMA series. However, the foundation of his success was laid in amateur martial arts: the Dagestani is the reigning world champion in all-style karate (full contact in defense discipline) and also holds the title of Master of Sport of the Russian Federation in boxing.
The organizers promise to reveal details of the Grand Prix, including the bracket of opponents and fight dates, later.
