MAKHACHKALA, July 27 – RIA "Dagestan". International Master of Sport in freestyle wrestling Rasul Magomedov extended his undefeated record to 10-0 with a unanimous decision victory over American Sullivan Cauley at a PFL event in Washington on Saturday. Competing for Bahrain in his third league bout, the Dagestani dominated the wrestling exchanges with repeated takedowns against the former Bellator fighter, who entered with a 6-1 record.
Although the striking was competitive and Magomedov absorbed significant damage while neglecting defense, he consistently broke through Cauley’s guard over three rounds. Both fighters showed visible signs of the grueling contest, but Magomedov’s superior grappling secured him the win and advanced his pursuit of the PFL championship title.
Rasul Magomedov, a light heavyweight from Makhachkala, got his start in sports as a freestyle wrestler, training under Anvar Magomedgadzhiev at G. Gamidov Makhachkala Sports School. His accomplishments include a World Cup victory in 2019 and a medal at the 2017 Russian Championship. Many fans remember his shocking defeat of American Olympic gold medalist Kyle Snyder at the 2019 Ivan Yarygin. He also captured a world title in combat sambo (2021) and a European title in mixed martial arts (2021).
