Since January 2025, fishing enterprises in Dagestan have hauled in an impressive 22,843 tons of fish. The bulk of this catch is sprat, accounting for 20,600 tons, followed by 850 tons of herring and 372 tons of carp. According to the Federal Agency for Fishery, Dagestan continues to lead Southern Russia's fishing industry, with the majority of its production sourced fr om the Caspian Sea, wh ere sprat and herring are predominantly fished.
