A strategic investor has commenced the process of modernization of Makhachkala commercial seaport. The renovation project needs over RUB 7 billion of private investments, as announced by director general of the port Jamal Aliyev.

According to Aliyev, the port has already begun to modernize its container yard and has started the design and construction of a large grain terminal with an annual handling capacity of 1.5 million tons. Besides, plans are voiced to upgrade rail sorting facilities and to construct a new motorway to the port using state funds.
