The Azimut Hotel chain intends to construct a new 180-room hotel complex in Derbent, located on the coastline. The project's estimated investment cost is RUB 3 billion. The hotel is expected to achieve a 4-star rating, mirroring the Azimut Kaspiysk hotel which opened in May 2022 with 145 rooms.

Owned by Alexander Klyachin, the Azimut network currently encompasses over 70 hotels and sanatoriums across 50 cities. The chain reported revenue of 28 billion rubles in 2024.  Market analysts note a current shortage of hotel accommodations in the region, with a total inventory of approximately 7,800 rooms.

Despite this limited supply, the sector experienced growth rates of 21% in 2023 and 12% in 2024. Experts observe a shift in demand towards alternative lodging options such as apartments and studios, with over 20,000 units currently available for rent.
