Passenger traffic at Makhachkala Airport may grow by 11.6% by the end of 2023, the regional Ministry of Transport and Roads reports. In 2023, the total number of served passengers may reach 2.8 million people. Recall in 2022 Makhachkala air harbor received 2.5 million passengers (in 2021 - 2.03 million). At the same time, according to forecasts for the next three years, the total passenger traffic at the airport may grow up to 3 million people

The growth is predicted due to the increase in tourist flow to the republic and expansion of the air route network, including bypassing Moscow aviation hub. Currently, 17 domestic flights and 12 international routes are operated by Makhachkala Airport.
