Dagestan continues to consolidate its position as the leading garlic producer in the Russian Federation, with the region accounting for almost a quarter of the country's total production.

According to preliminary data, Dagestan produced over 41,000 tons of garlic last year, demonstrating its prominence in the industry. The region's reputation for excellence in garlic cultivation is deeply rooted in centuries-old traditions and expertise, making it an essential ingredient in local cuisine.

With over 2,000 hectares under garlic cultivation, Dagestan's natural and climatic advantages, coupled with the skilled expertise of its farmers, contribute to the region's significant contribution to the national supply of the crop. While Russia remains somewhat dependent on garlic imports, Dagestan is actively seeking to increase its cultivation efforts in order to further strengthen its position in the domestic market.
