The Republic of Dagestan exhibits significant self-sufficiency in seedling production for its agricultural sector.
Approximately 80% of seedlings utilized by local farmers are cultivated within the region. This achievement is facilitated by a network of nurseries, ranging in size from several hectares to an expansive 40 hectares. A recent visit by Sharip Sharipov, the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan to Feyzudin Ibragimov's 5-hectare nursery in the settlement of Magaramkent highlighted this progress. The nursery specializes in cultivating seedlings of various fruit crops, including persimmons, apricots and cherries.
Sharipov noted that Dagestan nurseries produced an impressive 1.2 million seedlings in 2024. The top official further emphasized the republic's remarkable advancements in seedling production over recent years, stating that Dagestan now cultivates nearly 80% of its required seedlings. The largest nursery, LLC "Stripe" boasts an area exceeding 40 hectares.
