In 2024 in Dagestan the historical maximum of daily electricity consumption was updated 6 times. The peak value in 2024 will reach 1615 MW. Last year it was 1546 MW.
Despite the year-on-year increase in electricity consumption in the Republic of Dagestan, the region's own production only covers 57% of the demand. Over the last three years, there has been a 25% increase in consumption, which is equivalent to the energy consumption of the city of Makhachkala.
The regional authorities acknowledged the poor state of the power grid complex, specifically the high level of wear and tear on power grid equipment. The transmission lines have a wear and tear rate of 75%, while power supply centers have a rate of 85%, both significantly higher than the national average of 55%.
