Prices for new apartments in Dagestan have more than doubled in three years, with an increase of 200%. This is the highest rate of increase in the country, and it has led to a shortage of housing. For every 100 residents in the republic, only 20.9 square meters of new housing is under construction.

According to researchers, the construction boom and rising prices can be attributed to several factors. One of these is the high birthrate, which has led to an influx of people into the region. Another factor is the influx of tourists, as well as the movement of people from rural areas to cities. Additionally, the low interest rates on mortgages in the region have encouraged people to buy new homes.

Apart from Dagestan, three other regions have seen a sharp increase in prices for new buildings: Kalmykia, Altai, and Kabardino-Balkaria. In Kalmykia, prices have increased by 1.8 times, while in Altai they have increased by 1.4 times. In Kabardino-Balkaria, prices rose by 37%.
