An innovative aggregator for farm producers has been established in Dagestan, designed to facilitate the delivery of vegetables and fruits from small-scale producers within the republic to chain stores. This initiative was spearheaded by Magnet in collaboration with a local farm located in Levashinsky district. The project, realized in 2024, received partial funding through advance payments.
The aggregator model will involve the establishment of a warehouse for the seasonal storage of local vegetables. Among the products to be sourced are tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, aubergines and courgettes. Additionally, Magnet is exploring options to include fruit and berry products from Dagestani farmers, such as cherries, peaches, nectarines, persimmons and grapes. Current plans are underway to finalize the opening of a second warehouse in Dagestan.
Nizam Khalilov, Dagestan's Minister of Industry and Trade, emphasized that this project will provide local farmers with a dependable sales channel and broaden their access to buyers beyond the republican borders. Aggregators enable even the smallest farms to showcase their products in the federal retailers, thereby creating new jobs, boosting incomes in rural areas and contributing to the overall development of these regions.
This initiative follows Magnet's successful launch of its first aggregator for farm products in Tula region at the end of 2022. Similar projects have since been launched in Volgograd, Leningrad and Krasnodar regions, marking a growing trend in the retail sector aimed at supporting local agriculture.
