Iraqi Ambassador to Russia: "Iraq and Daghestan have close interrelations"

Makhachkala, April 23, 2014. Within the All-Russian cultural and investment forum that have taken place these days in Makhachkala, representatives of different cities and countries visited Daghestan.

The ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in the Russian Federation, Ismail Shafik Muksin in an interview to the RIA "Dagestan" pointed out that Iraq and Daghestan have long-standing relations.

"Many Daghestan families are living in Iraq. Muhammad Fazil-pasha Dagestanī, a native of Daghestan, was the governor of Baghdad for a few years. His son, Ghazi Dagestanī, was also a chief of the General Staff of Iraqi Armed Forces.

The father and son personify the strength and courage of Daghestani people for Iraqis. The long-standing relations among Daghestanis and the Iraqi peoples will help us to cooperate and develop a variety of industries in the republic, including industry and education. I would also like to note that some of our graduate students are studying at Daghestan State University."- Ismail Shafik Muksin concluded.
