In the republic of Dagestan, the number of small and medium-sized businesses increased by 4.1% in 2023, the regional Agency for Entrepreneurship and Investments reports. In total, their number amounted to 44 thousand SMEs by the end of 2023.

"At the same time, compared to 2022, the number of those employed in entrepreneurship has increased almost in 3 times. In total, 315.1 thousand people work in this industry" - the Agency officer specifies.

During the same period the region was able to increase the number of self-employed by 5.6 times compared to last year. In total, about 212 thousand self-employed citizens are registered in the region.
