RUR 1.755 billion to be spent on celebrating 2,000th anniversary of Derbent

Makhachkala, March 3, 2014. Totally, RUR 1,755.400 million is planned to fund the commemorative events in Derbent according to the approved plan. The federal budget’s share is 1,228.78 million and Daghestani budget will provide another 526.620 millions, said Daghestan minister of economy and regional development Rayudin Yussufov yesterday at a regular parliamentary session.
According to him, 616.3 million from the federal budget’s share will fund the conditioning of the cultural heritage facilities. "These facilities are the objects of federal property. So, the Russian Ministry of Culture will be in charge of the repairs and restoration", - said the minister.
The approximate step-by-step plan of organizational and technical activities to implement the general plan of preparing and celebrating the 2,000th anniversary of Derbent in 2015 has been developed. The consolidated media plan on covering the city's anniversary has been approved, too. They have also made an informational e-base on the history of Derbent in Russian, English and Arabic.
Currently, on behalf of Daghestani Head, the minister of economy and regional development in collaboration with the Derbent administration, the General Monitoring Board "Derbent 2000" and other relevant ministries and agencies are preparing a comprehensive action plan on organizing and celebrating Derbent’s anniversary given the perspective of the city development until 2018.
"The decision for celebrating Derbent’s anniversary testifies to the recognition of Daghestan’s cultural and historical heritage, architectural and aesthetic value of the unique Russian heritage - the "Naryn-Kala" museum complex which is an integral part of the world civilization", - Daghestani minister of economic development concluded.
