Two 110 kilovolt substations will be constructed in the underdeveloped districts of Makhachkala. This has been announced at a meeting between the Head of Dagestan Sergei Melikov and Fedor Opadchy, the chairman of the board of directors of the Unified Energy Systems Operator.

As to Vyacheslav Afanasyev, the director general of the South-Western Power Grids, the program for the development of the power grid infrastructure in the region envisages the construction of a new 330 kilovolt facility, which aims to address the challenges of electricity supply in both northern Dagestan and northeastern Chechnya. According to Afanasyev, while the actual construction process may take several years to complete, the project has already commenced, with design work underway and a site selected.
