XXIV Russian exhibition of pedigree sheep and goats opens in Dagestan

The XXIV Russian Exhibition of pure-bred sheep and goats began its work today in Kaspiysk, at the Anji Arena stadium. The event is held in the region for the second year in a row. This year it has brought together more than 65 farms and hundreds of delegates from almost 30 regions of the Russian Federation. The opening ceremony was attended by Maxim Uvaydov, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, and Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Dagestan.

The Prime Minister of Dagestan opened the exhibition and welcomed the guests and participants of the three-day event on behalf of the regional authorities.

Representatives of 24 regions of the country, including the new regions - Zaporizhzhya and Kherson, are taking part in the exhibition. The participants of the event will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the latest developments in sheep breeding, but also to see the sights of Dagestan.

At present, 12 breeds of sheep are bred in the republic. Scientists and farmers continue breeding and pedigree work in breeding farms. The region occupies one of the leading positions in the Russian Federation in the number of sheep and goats per capita. The exhibition will last until May 25.
