Organized by the Autonomous Nonprofit Organization "Institute for Territorial Development Caspium", the expedition involves a multidisciplinary team of historians, geographers, ecologists and tourism specialists. Over a distance of 80 kilometers, they survey the remnants of the system, tracing it fr om the Derbent fortress to the Khuchni fortress in Derbent and Tabasaran municipal districts of the republic of Dagestan.

Project leader Magomed Abdulaev highlighted the substantial size of Dag-Bara, a 6th-century fortification constructed to repel nomadic incursions. Saadu Kaziyev, the expedition's head, clarified that the wall was not unbroken and that the Khuchni fortress was not its terminal point.  The expedition also formulated a proposed tourist itinerary encompassing the locations wh ere remnants of the wall can be found.

The subsequent phase of the project entails enhancing the pathways and installing informational signage along the designated route.
