Today, May 29, in his annual Address to the People's Assembly of the Republic, the Head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov outlined a plan for expanding cellular communication infrastructure in the region.

As to the top official, the republic aims to construct at least 70 new base stations by the end of 2025. This initiative, according to Melikov, is part of an ongoing effort commenced in early 2023 to ensure universal access to mobile communication and internet services across all settlements within Dagestan.

"The construction of base stations in 78 settlements has already been completed. By 2025, we need to ensure the construction of at least 70 more stations to provide residents of remote areas with access to digital services similar to those available in large cities" - Melikov said.

According to reports, Dagestan plans to invest RUB 2.5 billion in communication infrastructure in rural areas by 2030 as part of its project to eliminate digital inequality. These investments will connect 492 more settlements by 2030, bringing digital services closer to the rural residents.
