The head of Rosmorrechflot (Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport) Andrey Tarasenko and the Head of the Republic of Dagestan Sergei Melikov have met in Makhachkala to discuss issues related to training personnel for the water transport industry.
During the meeting, it was noted that Sergo Ordzhonikidze College of Mechanical Engineering and Service had been granted a license to provide training in water transport and shipbuilding. The relevant network cooperation agreements had been signed with Volga State University of Water Transport.
Rosmorrechflot has extensive experience in training bargemen and seafarers through subordinate educational institutions across the country, ranging from Vladivostok in the east to St Petersburg in the west. Dagestan will also establish its own maritime training school, which will enable the republic to provide specialists. This development is particularly significant for the fulfilment of the objectives set by the country's leadership regarding the development of the "North-South" international transport corridor and in particular, plans to modernize Makhachkala port, Tarasenko noted.
