Reconstruction work is underway for a segment of the federal highway R-217 Kavkaz near the village of Tyube. This crucial project involves expanding the carriageway from two to four lanes to alleviate persistent traffic congestion at the railway crossing.
During a recent meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Dagestan Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, the top official underscored the urgency of addressing this issue. The existing infrastructure is insufficient to accommodate the growing traffic volume, resulting in frequent delays and compromised road safety.
The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of this project for both regional connectivity and international transit routes. To expedite the process, a request has been formally submitted to the North Caucasus Railways seeking technical specifications required for the four-lane crossing reconstruction.
This matter was previously raised at the Caucasian Investment Forum during discussions between the Head of Dagestan and a senior representative of the Russian Railways. The meeting also reviewed progress on the development of essential design and cost estimates necessary for project implementation.
