Dagestan has been ranked ninth among the Russian Federation's constituent entities for the quality of its road network, according to a study conducted by RIA Novosti experts.  The assessment encompassed 85 regions (excluding newly incorporated territories) and utilized data from Rosstat and Rosavtodor.

The analysis revealed that 74.3% of roads under regional, inter-municipal, and local jurisdiction in Dagestan meet established standards, enabling the republic to secure a position within the top ten for road infrastructure development.

Ongoing roadworks are underway in 15 municipalities as part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life," with the aim of bringing 23 facilities totaling 142.5 kilometers up to standard by the end of 2025. This initiative builds upon the completed national project "Safe high-quality roads," which operated from 2019 to 2024 and resulted in the repair and construction of over 650 kilometers of highways, installation of more than 100 traffic signals, and activation of seven weight and dimension control points. These measures have significantly enhanced traffic safety on Dagestan's roadways.

The development of transport infrastructure remains a key priority for the republic's government. Governor Sergei Melikov outlined an ambitious plan to upgrade 484 kilometers of roadways and 13 bridges by 2025, as part of ongoing, extensive modernization initiatives in the transportation sector.
